Alain Poncelet is a Belgium-based artist who likes to peel away the layers to expose the darker side of human nature, to paint the blackness and delve into nightmares. He tells the stories nobody wants to hear, and dips his brush in heavy metal to bring our deepest fears to light.
The adventure begins in 2005, with the debut album BD at Nocturne, "Cinema Fantastic". This album was followed by two novels "Catharsis" and "Rupture (s)". 2010 sees the beginning of a collaboration with the metal group Skeptical Minds. Their universes marrying perfectly, Alain is entrusted with the realization of the drawings of T-shirt, album covers, and scenic sets. This collaboration intensified with the release of the CD / DVD albums "Broken Dolls" and "Omega Thanatos".
In 2012, Alain participates in a collective project at the request of the Italian publisher Passenger Press. "Black Odyssey" retraces an erotic version of Ulysse's Odyssey. Two other books get to be edited by the Milanese publisher: "Apocalypse Tarot" and "Dead Art Book" which were presented at a showcase at the Lucca Comics & Games in 2013. From 2012 to 2015, Alain participated in the "Sketchbook Project" initiated by the Brooklyn Art Library in New York. Unique in its kind, this library hosts sketchbooks of artists from around the world. A world tour for notebooks is organized all over the world: The USA, Europe, Australia.
The author of the poster of the 2016 vampire ball, Alain is present every year at the BIFFF, the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. In 2017, he has created the label of the Crémant Cuvée special BIFFF 35 years. For the fantasy festival Trolls & Legends 2017, Alain declined a little Troll, the mascot of the festival, in many "Viking" versions. The drawings made for this edition of the festival have been collected in an artbook.
2017 also saw the publication of his new comic book "Rusalka, the spirit of the lake", «Dark & erotic » with writer Karolina Pacan, the "Motörbook" with rock journalists Jacques de Pierpont & Patchouli and some new designs for the Motörheadbangers, Motörhead official fanclub.
